There was a time when you could spot a sofa bed a mile off because it was bulkier and often didn’t quite fit with the style of the room. Now the designs have moved on amazingly.

The size of your budget will be one of the defining factors as to the type of sofa bed you can get. If you have to compromise then it is worth prioritising your wish list. Consider how often you think the bed facility will actually be used. If it is simply for emergencies then you can make your choices based primarily on the appearance of the sofa. However, if you think that the bed facility is important then you should make sure that you get something which will be comfortable to sleep on.

Most sofa beds to not have particularly thick mattresses, so it is worth checking out what support has been build into the bed to make it comfortable.

Before buying any of the contemporary sofa beds you must be sure to double check your measurements as you do not want to find that you either can not open out the bed, or cannot fit the sofa bed into the space available.
